2011 Season – August 10 to 21

‘Cobblestone’ is a theatre festival that celebrates heritage and culture.  It is named after the stone mason legacy left by a family of artisans who built homes and churches at the junction of the Grand and Nith rivers.  Each summer (in August) a group of dedicated volunteers, theatre devotees, and summer students invite people to Paris for a casual, unique and interactive theatre festival.

The Cobblestone Festival, (produced by BTW) is calling for all one act production proposals.  Material for both adult and youth stages are welcome and should be approximately 45 minutes in length.

This home-grown, locally produced one-act play festival along with a critically-acclaimed, full-length mainstage production has brought audiences to the beautiful town of Paris for 12 years now. It has featured the creativity of many local artists, performers and playwrights. Strolling the bank of the Grand River and coming to the Cobblestone plays has become a tradition for many during an August summer evening.

In March of this year BTW was informed that the Cobblestone Festival would not happen. We had performed at the Cobblestone back in 2005 and immediately saw the benefit to the theatre community and experienced the enthusiastic response of audiences in Paris.

Our Board stepped in and agreed to take on the responsibility for staging the festival.

Submissions

Producing groups have access to a variety of venues in Paris, with flexible schedule beginning August 10th and ending on Aug 21st.  Direction, production, casting, and staging are the responsibility of the playwright/producer.  Festival staff will assist with promotion, administrative, and technical support when possible. The deadline for submissions is May 6, 2011.

Fees and Disbursements

A $35.00 commitment fee must be included with each synopsis.   Playwrights/producers will receive a percentage of the box office revenue (after venue costs).
